Does CmodsWebLinks 1.9 work with with Zikula (1.0.3)? I can not seem to get it to work. I can not add a _ADDCATEGORY and all links have and underscore on the front of them. _THEREARE _ADDCATEGORY _None ect... Legacy module support is enabled. any help on this would be great.
Thank you -

Hi, I am glad to hear you are working on a Zikula friendly version :) In the meantime, is it possible to persuade 1.9 to work? I have been trying with some success, but there are a few things that still need attention.
1. The distribution unpacks a a few files into the /modules Folder which Zikula does not like:
modules/search/lang/...
When Regenerating the Module, Zikula throws an error. I just removed these Folders, and the Module installed ok (as far as I can tell). However, does this mean that any of the Search functionality is broken? No big deal as I can live without that for the time being (until the updated version is released ;))
2. As frtaz says, a lot of text displays show the _XXXXXX labels. I was able to add all the missing ones to the lang/eng/global.php which seemed to sort that out.
3. When I added a Link (which seemed to go ok), I get a bunch of the "New" Icons: 2 of the red, 2 of the Green, and 4 of the purple! is there a convenient was to prevent this and just get a single Icon as appropriate? This appears on the Main Page (index.php?name=CmodsWebLinks&file=index) and the Links Page (index.php?name=CmodsWebLinks&file=index&req=viewlink&cid=1&orderby=dateD). Also the 'Pop'ular Icon appears, and there is no usage yet (the Web Links Configuration is set to '500' for a Linkt o become popular, and there is no-where near that kind of usage yet; this is just a test site). Should that happen?
4. Also on the Links Page, the 'Added On' Date does not show, just the _LINKSDATESTRING Label. Can I make the actual date show?
I can add Categories, and even the Search seems to work (from what I have been able to try).
However, have I just been wasting my time? What I mean is it worth doing this if the module is still going to broken somewhere and stop working. As I said, it seems to work as far as I can tell, so I am happy to use it until a new version is released. It is a far better module than the Weblinks Module currently available with Zikula (e.g. ability for Preview, better layout, and some other graphics).
Thanks for any guidance. When do you expect to release a Zikula version?
Cheers,
Chris -

Hello Lindbergh, is there any progress with a Zikula friendly CmodsWebLinks?
Although I managed to get CmodsWebLinks 1.9 running on Zikula 1.1.x (sort of), on a recent upgrade test of Zikula 1.2 (RC), it seems to have broken CmodsWebLinks completely.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Chris
I'm working on it but it will take some time. At the moment I do not have much spare time to work on my modules. As soon as it is finished I will write a news.
regards

I'm also thinking to upgrade my good old pn 0.764 webiste to the latest Zikula 1.2.4, and the only modules missing ATM are CModsWeblinks, CmodsDownloads (Downloads), and PNphpBB2.
Please, please, please Lindbergh
.
Just kidding, no rush knowing all this is opensource and free, but still...
Bye. -

I am finally caught between a rock and a hard place. My Host has upgraded the PHP so Postnuke 0.7.6.4 will not work, nor will 1.1.x so I have no choice but to migrate to 1.2.x or 1.3.x
So it's game over for cModsWebLinks?
It's still the best Web Links Manager I can find.
A truly massive amount of effort over several years has gone into producing a quality comprehensive Web Links Service on one of our Sites, and the loss of it will be no small issue. This is of course not your responsibility, so it is not a complaint, more a scream of anguish and agony
If I knew there was going to be a zk1.2.x (and/or 1.3.x) friendly version soon, then I can wait a while longer. If there is not (ever) going to be an upgraded cModsWebLinks, then can you confirm this? We can then abandon hope, and find a plan B (whatever that will be).
Anyway, we have had a lot of excellent use from this Module, and I am very grateful.
So do I mourn its passing, or hope for good things to come?
Chris.
